Agave attenuata - The Foxtail Agave
A stunning accent plant for just about any position in the garden. The foxtail Agave gets it's name from the large flower spike mature plants send up once in a lifetime.
Tolerant of both dry and damp conditions, sun or part shade this soft, spineless Agave is child and pet friendly! I have them dotted all through my garden as they add a
real focal piont with their large fleshy bright green rosettes.

Brachychiton rupestris - The Queensland Bottle Tree
An awe-inspiring Australian native plant related to the giant Boabs of Africa. A must for any plant enthusiast! The bottle tree is very drought tolerant once established
and will survive in temperatures as low as -8 degrees Celcius. There are many beautiful specimens growing here in Melbourne. Mine is my pride and joy, although still young
at about 7 years old. The bottle tree can be deciduous in cold areas and benefits from good watering during the summer. They need a bit of space to show-off!

Furcraea bedinghausii
A spectacular plant that needs a bit of space to show-off. This Furcraea (no common name that I know of) lifts off in the garden as it grows like some bizzare UFO taking to the heavens.
As it reaches 2m accross it will begin to slowly rise up to between 3 and 5 metres and makes an awesome sight. The Furcraea will eventually flower at around 20 years of age.
Fully hardy in the garden requiring no supplamentary watering and tolerates cold to -8 degrees C. This is a truly an amazing accent plant that will reward a gardeners patience!

Furcraea foetida mediopicta:The Balinese Agave
A beautiful variegated plant that makes a particularly stunning pot specimen. This furcraea does prefer a warm tropical climate, however, it is so stunning that it is worth us southerners
having a go. Since the Balinese Agave does not like cold wet seasons I keep mine potted and move it under cover during winter (when I remember) It tolerates cold well if kept dry, is drought
tolerant but does enjoy a good water in summer. There is nothing like the bright, lush variegated foliage of this plant to light up a tropical style garden, especially in a beautiful
blue glaze bowl!

Xanthorrhoea australis glauca - The Grass Tree
An icon of the Australian landscape The Grass Tree is worthy of a position in all gardens. Unlike older specimens that do not always transplant well, small seed grown plants are very hardy and chug along quite
well in the garden forming a head of beautiful bluey/green grassy leaves. The characteristic fire-blackened trunk take many many years to form, but even so I can highly recommend starting off a few in your home garden
as an investment for the future as well as a dramatic addition to your landscape.

Yucca desmetiana
A beautiful and rare member of the Yucca family this stunning plant should be more widely grown! The unusual burgundy/green, softly arching foliage makes this a dramatic plant in any landscape. It is fully
hardy tolerates hot dry conditions as well as cold and wet....a real winner! Mine has started to shoot from the base and I look forward to the multiple trunks. Yucca desmetiana, like all Yuccas has beautiful
creamy bell flowers in summer (which are quite tasty...yes they are edible)
